It's a multi-stepped because lots must occur between the time that a prospect is aware enough to enter your funnel, to the time when they take action and successfully complete a purchase. Sales stages. In general, there are 4 main Sales stages:

And, there are 5 standard forecast categories within the sales cycle to which an opportunity is assigned based on its opportunity stage.
